Owners Mark and Joyce Johnson started JoyMark after owning a successful Photography business in Rhode Island. "More and more, we found that our fledgling interest in video production was becoming both the fastest growing and, more importantly, the most interesting part of our business". Although JoyMark has started cutting back on their still photography services, both Joyce and Mark credit his photography background with laying a strong foundation for their video productions. "In a very real sense, there is a commonality. Both are a form of visual communication. Video offers the additional benefits of motion and audio, creating more of a challenge, yet often much deeper success as a communications medium".

"The constant change in this business…the transition from, by today's standards, very simplistic equipment through the current facility's' capabilities with digital cameras, digital editing…..it's amazing! We're capable of doing what only a full-fledged TV station could do a few short years ago." With all of the gee-wiz, state-of-the-art equipment though, Mark still feels it's about communication. "Technology enables you to get the job done without the equipment getting in the way, but the bottom line is still ensuring your video communicates the ideas that your client has or the ones you generate together. That's when you feel the excitement of it all coming together just right!"
